FAQs
Below are some frequently asked questions I figured you might wanna know…
Where is the shop located?
Broad Street Tattoo Parlour is in lil ol’ Bethlehem, Pennsylvania!
97 E Broad St, Bethlehem, PA 18018
(…no, I do not own the place…)
Do you work in a walk-in shop?
Yes! But preferably I like to make appointments and make sure I have time to thoughtfully design your tattoo. In-person consultations are preferred for pieces that got a little more goin’ on. Feel free to contact the shop phone (via text/call) to ensure that I or another artist is available! I’m usually available in the shop from 12:30-7, Tues-Fri (Monday/Saturday by request).
(…no, we don’t do piercings…)
(…no, I will not tattoo at your home…)
How do I book an appointment?
Well, gee! I’m glad you asked!
I have a lil booking inquiry form you can fill out. Other options include contacting the shop to see if I’m available for an in-person consultation or shooting me a DM on my Instagram (I suggest you take a peek at the inquiry form for some guidelines on what to say in your DM)
What method of payment does your shop use?
CASH ONLY.
Luckily, there’s an atm at the 7/11 across the street as well as a Wawa a short drive down the road (no surcharge at the Wa! woohoo!)
If there are any complications with this, please mention it in your request.
What if I need to reschedule?
Please email/DM me or call the shop ASAP. If you can, please give at least 24hr notice to ensure your spot can be rescheduled. If you’re over 20-30min late to the appointment, consider it cancelled.
When will I get to see my design?
More likely than not, you’ll get to see the design the day of the tattoo. My schedule is usually busy, so I may not be able to get it to you until the day of our session. Any minor changes that need to be made can be done during our session. Please familiarise yourself with my style of work to understand what qualities your design will have and trust that you’re in good hands c:
What if I want to change my design?
Pleassseee make sure you email, call/text the shop, or shoot me a DM at least 24hrs prior to our session. I do what I can to ensure we have a well thought out and efficient session. Minor changes are fine, but redoing the entire piece requires time and energy that doesn’t need to be done during our scheduled appointment.
How should I prepare for my session?
Despite the size of the tattoo or how many tattoos you already have, please make sure that you’re well hydrated and have had something to eat prior to our session.
For any session over two hours, it’s encouraged to bring something to drink and to snack on (esp a full day sessions!) Our shop has some snacks/drinks provided, and (as mentioned earlier) there is a 7/11 and coffee shop located across the street from our shop that you can buy a lil drinky-poo or snakaroo in a pinch.
Consuming alcohol the night before can thin the blood and make it difficult to tattoo as well… So please keep that to a minimum and get some sleep!
Make sure you’re wearing something you don’t mind potentially getting ink on, comfortable, and easily accessible for the spot that you’re getting tattooed in. Example: pieces that go from the stomach to the thigh area, I recommend a string bikini or some kind of underwear you don’t mind getting chopped up. For other areas, feel free to message me if you’re unsure of what to wear for your session.
Lastly, please make sure you have a valid form of ID: an unexpired license/passport/any government issued ID.
Can someone come with me?
Yes! Anyone over 18 is welcome. If you’ve seen the shop, you already know there’s not a lot of wiggle room for a lot of people so please keep it limited to one extra person. If there are multiple people scheduled for a tattoo that day, that’s a different story! Please make note of this when filling out an inquiry form or in our consultation.
Aftercare?
Option 1: More times than not, I will use DermSheild on clients. Dermsheild is a latex-free, waterproof, adhesive bandage. This is good for 2-3 days, showers and all. It’s normal to collect fluids underneath, but if the bandage leaks, then take it off in the shower. When removing the bandage, gently peel it slowly from the edge back over itself. Do not pull the bandage upwards.
Option 2: If you have sensitive skin or just are not into DermSheild, you’ll be wrapped in seran wrap just for the ride home. Remove the wrap once you get home. clean it off and apply a clean piece before bed for the first few days.
Use your hand to clean off your tattoo! Do not use a bath sponge, wash cloths, or loofahs. Use an unscented, antibacterial soap out of a pump bottle like Dial with warm water to then wash your tattoo off. No Bath and Bodyworks ‘Bahama Mama Breeze’ or body scrub. Let it air dry or pat dry with a clean paper towel. Avoid bath towels or cloths as this too can leave bacteria or fibers on your fresh tattoo. Do this at least once a day. If you plan on doing any strenuous activities, consult with me during/after our session.
After a few days, on clean, dry skin, apply a small amount of unscented lotion. Hustle Butter, Shea Butter, Lubriderm, or Aquaphor are all good to use. Make sure its a squeeze or pump bottle, not a dip well. Make sure you’re not oversaturating your fresh tattoo. Doing this will result in suffocating the healing skin and unsatisfactory results. If it’s shiny, it’s too much… Less is more!
Make sure your sheets are clean and don’t let your pets love up on your new tattoo (they can tell you get a freshie on you!)
Wear loose/comfortable clothes, preferably cotton. Consult with me if you have any questions about what to wear post-tattoo sesh.
After a few days, the tattoo will begin to form a flaky scab that will fall off on its own (sort of similar to a sunburn!). Do not pick or scratch at your tattoo. Just keep calm and moisturised. If you have any questions or concerns, reach out via email, call/text the shop, or shoot me a DM. Everyone’s experience with tattoos is different, so talk to a pro before you ask a friend.
